## Lapping stones: before sharpening


 If you use your sharpening stones on a regular basis you probably already noticed that the sharpening stones became hollow in the middle. This lapping stone will ensure your sharpening stones become straight again! The bevelled grooves in the sharpening surface ensure that all sharpening particles are drained as you sharpen your stone. If you move the lapping stone over the sharpening stone before or after use you make sure the sharpening stone doesn't become hollow.


## Use


You place the sharpening stone you wish to flatten on its back on a flat surface, the sharpening side facing up. To make sure you can check that the stone is flattened properly you mark the surface you wish to sharpen with horizontal and vertical lines. As such the lines on the outsides will disappear faster as you flatten your stone. As soon as all stripes are gone, your sharpening stone will be straight again! So easy to use, fairly quick and removed the right amount of material.  Did not need to be heavy, normal pressure worked fine.

Voor ik deze steen had maakte ik mijn slijpstenen terug vlak mbv een marmeren plaat en schuurpapier. ‘N vervelend, traag maar noodzakelijk werkje. Dit heeft me al aardig wat euro’s aan schuurpapier gekost. Ik heb net deze egaliseer steen gebruikt en het ik moet zeggen;’ I don’t hate it’. Het blijft n vervelend werkje maar het gaat nu veel sneller en het maakt mijn stenen even vlak als met de marmeren blok. Ook veel handiger om in een tasje te dragen of te stockeren. Voor iemand die veel slijpt, een must om te hebben.
